UX/UI Design: Emotional Presence App Prototype

Emotions are such an integral part of our human experience. Emotional intelligence helps us to function in a more productive way. However, many people choose to ignore or bury their feelings. This can lead to emotional outbreaks that disrupt relationships, careers, and one’s own well-being.
The desired outcome of this app is for users to process their feelings in an easy guided way, receive words of inspiration, and be able to move forward with their day in a more present, peaceful way.
I started the project by connecting with the user through a detailed survey. I empathized with what they want and need in the product.

Next, I defined my project with more research and clarifying the solution. The ideation came next with brainstorming and assembling a creative brief.

I began the prototyping phase where the previous steps are distilled and integrated into the physical product by first creating a wireframe on paper then digitizing it.

Finally, I started testing the prototype and was able to make small shifts to make the product more user friendly. The original design of the app had buttons that were too small. I observed the slight frustration and it was mentioned that it strained eyes. I also learned that it was a little overwhelming. Which is the complete opposite of the desired outcome of the app. So I made the buttons larger and separated some of the options into categories. This helped the user to find what they were looking for in an easier way. Simplification makes a difference in an app designed to bring a greater sense of presence and peace.
