Moab Valley Multicultural Center Brand Refresh

MVMC’s logo was created in 2014 as part of a branding project. They were looking for a refresh on their logo image and components. The font used in their logo was a bit outdated and didn’t match the bold, modern feel of their website and mission.

I started with updating the bird. They wanted to keep it as the main image, as it has symbolism that pairs with their mission statement. I removed the outline and simplified it. This will allow it to look good in both large and small applications.

I then took the bird image into creating a more updated logo and components to be used in a variety of ways. This included different orientations as well as options in Spanish. I thought about the MVMC mission and what their business purpose is. I wanted to convey the joy of the diversity that comes through a multicultural center. So I started with a bold font with a hand drawn feel. I manipulated the font to make some letters smaller and some larger while making the width of the letters the same so they look like they belong together. This created a dynamic focus on the word MULTICULTURAL in the logo.

In the past, they have used the bird in various campaigns and in various ways. So I arranged the bird into different positions so it could be used more creatively.
